How Much Do We Earn?

• Production workers earn an average of approximately $1.80 more per hour than comparable non-union positions.

• Welders earn an average of approximately $6–$7 more per hour than comparable non-union positions.

• These estimates are based on an 18% wage increase achieved in a comparable USW contract.

Dues = Power & Protection

Union dues are 1.45% of your total gross earnings plus $0.02 per hour worked. Based on a $2,000 gross paycheck, dues would be approximately $29.80 per paycheck.

Your dues are an investment in the strength of your union. They provide the resources needed to negotiate strong contracts, enforce your rights, and protect members in the workplace. These funds are part of a collective system that gives members a stronger voice than they would have standing alone.

Your dues help fund:

This is your money, and members have a voice in how local union funds are used through monthly union meetings. Your elected officers and trustees are responsible for ensuring accountability and transparency.

Every dollar is overseen by your Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and three elected Trustees. Union finances are regularly reviewed and audited to ensure responsible management of member dues.

• Grievance Protection – A structured process to address workplace concerns, enforce the contract, and ensure members have union support when their rights are challenged.

• Weingarten Rights – The right to request union representation during investigatory or disciplinary meetings when you believe the discussion could lead to discipline. You do not have to face these conversations alone.

What do Non-Members lose?

A union is built by the people who choose to stand together. While workplace protections negotiated by the union apply according to the law and contract, membership is what gives you a voice and a say in the future of your workplace.

Non-members do not have the same opportunities to:

• Vote on Contracts – Members decide whether to accept negotiated agreements that impact wages, benefits, schedules, and working conditions.
